Libby’s Scribb1es

'Sup, Dudes!?

Upon serious self-reflection (and looking at my reflection), I have concluded that I was, indeed being a bitch about Billie. I also concluded that my foul mood was due, in large part, to having short hair. Thus, I requested that Brian lengthen my hair again.

This is not to say, of course, that having short hair makes you bitchy. I mean, Siobhán is still rockin' the short cut, and she's as sweet as ever. (I know you know that Siobhán is the nicest of all my friends, along with her brother, Séamus. If you disagree, then I think you're just a shirtist.) Honestly, I think it was just making me be an extra-special deluxe jackass, because I just didn't feel right. It's like if you're used to wearing shirts without tags, and then you wear one with a tag. All of the sudden, you have gone from the most level-headed, decent person you know to a lousy curmudgeon who is likely to punch anyone who says the word "curmudgeon." That's how it was for me.

Fortunately, I've got a super-cool artist dude in my corner who can draw my hair any length I want! Granted, we could get into a whole discussion about whether or not I can want anything, seeing as I'm merely a manifestation of Brian's imagination. In that case, what "I" want is really what Brian wants. At the same time, I don't always reflect what Brian's actual thoughts or opinions are about things, because I'm a fictional character who would be boring if I was just a mouthpiece for Brian. Regardless, Brian does like having long hair (though he has yet to ever successfully get his hair as long as mine, because it gets tangled up and stuff), so…yeah!

Anyway, once Brian's done drawing my long hair here, I'm gonna go do some sk8in'. It'll be nice to have the wind in my hair and be able to use that to indicate motion and stuff. Also, I should probably…go see Billie (and Shelly!), and try to salvage our Sisters Vacay…Idk if that will make it into a comic or not.

(Isn't it interesting, though, how sk8in' and sk8ing are actually the same number of characters? That means that they take up the same number of bits in an uncompressed computer file. They also require the same number of keystrokes to write on a computer [or typewriter, as Anna would remind you]. Still, the g in sk8ing would use a lot more ink if put on paper, and also takes up more horizontal space in a proportional font. Plus, it takes more precise oral articulation to pronounce sk8ing than sk8in'. I just find this all fascinating, because I am Brian's fictional character, and he finds this fascinating…See? It's confusing and complicated, so let's just roll with it.)

Oh, and the photo of Brian's hand is digital, and he took it with his phone. He did print it onto the drawing paper for this episode at both the penciling and inking stages, but the generational loss from printing and scanning just made it look kinda crummy, so he used the original, digital photograph (turned B&W) for this final presentation. (Don't tell Anna, though.) If/when you read this in printed book form, of course, it will have been made analog again, because that's how books work!

Speaking of printing, you should check out Brian's new INPRNT shop! He's only got a few pictures up there so far, but the prints are a really nice quality, and Brian will add more pictures soon!

Has that made up for my recent Scribb1es being pretty short now? It's a good thing I write these on a computer (don't tell Anna), or I think my hand would be cramped!

L8er Sk8ers!
Libby
